1. You must be 18 or older
Online sports betting in Alberta is only legal for individuals who are 18 years of age or older. LineUp is an adult platform. We do not knowingly provide services to anyone under 18. If you are under 18, please leave this site.
All licensed sportsbooks listed on LineUp are required by the AGLC to verify player age before allowing account registration or deposits.
2. Recognizing problem gambling
Gambling is a problem when it negatively affects your finances, relationships, work, or mental health. You may be experiencing a gambling problem if you:
- Spend more money or time gambling than you intended.
- Feel anxious, irritable, or restless when not gambling.
- Gamble to escape stress, boredom, or difficult emotions.
- Chase losses by betting more to try to win back what you've lost.
- Hide your gambling activity from family or friends.
- Borrow money or sell possessions to fund gambling.
- Continue gambling despite repeated attempts to stop.
These signs do not indicate personal failure. Problem gambling is a recognized health condition and effective help is available.
3. Tools to stay in control
All licensed sportsbooks operating in Alberta are required to offer responsible gaming tools. These include:
Deposit limits
Set daily, weekly, or monthly limits on how much money you can deposit into your account.
Session time limits
Cap the amount of time you spend on the platform in a given period.
Reality checks
Receive reminders showing how long you've been playing and your net position for the session.
Cool-off periods
Temporarily suspend your account for a defined period such as 24 hours, 1 week, or longer.
Self-exclusion
Permanently exclude yourself from one or all licensed sportsbooks through AGLC's centralized program.
These tools are accessible within the responsible gaming or account settings section of each sportsbook's platform.
4. Self-exclusion in Alberta
Alberta operates a centralized self-exclusion program through AGLC. When you self-exclude, you are removed from all licensed sportsbooks in the province with a single request, not just the one you're currently using.
Self-exclusion is voluntary, confidential, and can be initiated by contacting AGLC directly or through any registered sportsbook. Exclusion periods range from a minimum of one year to permanent.
If you are currently self-excluded, you must not use this Site or attempt to access any sportsbook platform. If you believe a sportsbook has allowed you to place a bet while self-excluded, contact AGLC to report it.
For more information on Alberta's self-exclusion program, contact AGLC or visit your registered sportsbook's responsible gaming section.
